hi all when my vp gets hot it blows fusable link to ecu could this be caused by a faulty coolant temp sensor if not can someone help me solve my problem
thanks in advance
you could always try disconnecting the sensor but I doubt that is the problem. you have to have a lot of current to blow the fusable link. I would be more inclined to look for a short some where to earth. I have noticed that some of the wiring on my car goes around sharp cornrrs, objects and is a potential problem area.
best of luck
Hoots
thanks hoots...
yes I am with hoots, somthing is shorting out bigtime to blow your fusable link (Isnt it got a fairly high amp rating?), so its a good thing it is not spiking the chip.
Check your engine bay for wires that could be affected by heat.
Have you done any recent work on the car?
Dan
If you have not done work on the car recently, try looking at the STUPID oil pressure switch that is interlocked with the fel pump. It has high current going through it. It has failed in my car and cause an external oil fire. (never mind the 5 years worth of oil leaks, from the sump and streeing pump never cleaned).
Worth an inspection to see if it is still in good condition. It's at the front left of the engine with a 3 wire plug in front of the oil filter. The plastic switch body has a tendency to deteriorate of time and could be causing a short to earth.
