Heya,
Recently, my newly purchased '89 VN started cutting out for a split second, just after pulling up to a stop. It would only last about half a second, but in that time, the engine would stall, and the electrics would cut out, then it all would cut back in and it would keep idling fine. Last sunday night though, at a busy set of lights, it died altogether. No engine, no lights, no ignition, no hazards to tell other drivers to stop blasting their horns at me.
I pulled the bonnet lever, went to get out, and slammed my door, and the whole lot all came back to life again, started first turn and I was off again. Thing is, it never does it when its running at speed, only seems to be when it's idling, (like having pulled up to lights) and even then, only after its been driven for a while.
I've been told to look in the direction of the main fuses, and that something in there could be losing contact/shorting/etc. I'm gonna look into it tomorrow, but before I do, I was wondering if there was some other thing it could be, or if someone else had had the same issue.
A suggestion, try cleaning the pins on the DFM module plug, under the coil packs. Corrosion on the pins can cause this issue.
Scrape the pins to remove the crud.
Other than that, I don't know!
Checked the pins on the DFM, they all seemed to be alright, gave them a quick brushy anyway. Also checked Main Fuses, all seem secure. Can't figure out what it would be.
check your fuses under the dash for corrosion.. i know there is a fuse that controls your dash lights in wot not..
