    Default T5 hard shifting gears

Hey guys my vn hasn't been driven in over two years. I've just fixed it all up again and regiatered it. And I'm now driving it round. It's being a pain in the ass. And really hard to shift into gears. The only things I can think of are that the shifter mechanism needs grease or the gearbox needs more fluid. Any ideas??

i have the same problem. im thinking that its the shifter mechanism. its very notchy into gears and sometimes when im stopped at the lights and go to select first gear it is very difficult. im going to check the oil tomorrow. i know that my clutch is hammered and needs to be changed very soon but i doubt that may be the problem, but who knows, it may well be.

A buggered clutch will make it harder to shift. A clutch cable that isn't adjusted properly will give similar problems.

well ive partially fixed mine. dropped the oil from the gearbox it was about as black as used engine oil.

replaced it with some fully synthetic and its feeling alot better. still need to make sure the clutch is adjusted properly but so far so good

if the clutch isnt adjust then itl will just keep trying to turn the gears in the box, and you pushing into gear the synchros slow internals down until they match speeds and itl clunk into gear, where does your pedal grab and start to move the car? if its almost as soon as it leaves the floor then the cables to loose

how should the clutch cable be adjusted and to where? im pretty sure that my clutch is gone. i have an exedy heavy duty and it was heavy when i first put it in but now it is heaps softer compared to what it used to be. even my mate said the exact same thing about it.
