    Default overheating- need advice

the symptoms are; overheating on hot days- temp gauge gradually climbing to maximum and not dropping untill i stop the car and let it cool down.

I loosened the bleeder to try and let any air that might be in the rad out and since it seems to have been better, but what could be the root cause? bad thermostat/ engine coolant sensor/ fan sensor/ radiator crack?

Have you replaced the Rad yet?..

    Again,

    You should Replace..

    The Rad
All Rad hoses.. (only if there soft)
    Thermostat
    Flush The block
    Get some new coolant in.

if ur loosing coolant, you may have a leak but chek the overflow bottle when u stop the car. if its overflowing you will most likley have too much pressure in the cooling system, which could mean bhg. also chek ur radiator isnt blocked, look for cool/hot spots on the radiator by using a temp tester or ur finger lol....

Are you topping up with water because if u are this
may be the cause of ur
problem as the water will just evaporate...

I had a similar problem not so long ago I flushed the rad, put new coolant and
bled the system this didn't fix the prblem so I removed the thermostat
    and repeated the above
steps and all was well that's pretty
lazy though do all of the above but replace the thermostat

By the block, I mean the whole cooling system..

Rad , water pump & Thermostat housing..

however, it is always a good idea.. to get it professionally flushed.. So they can get ALL the crap and dirty shit outa the Block
