hey guys,
when my car is idle the temp goes upto half way. just was wondering if there is a coolant temp sensor that might need to be changed to turn the engine fan on earlier??
ECM controls the fan via the ect which should turn on at 104 degrees and off at 96 degrees , when was the last time you flushed your cooling system and what mix of coolant you using ??
ive used a bit of water cos the coolant was low. i will change the coolant soon. but just in case, is their a coolant temp sensor that can be changed??
there are too sensors one is for the gauge and the other is for the ECM. could be the gauge reading out of range too
what do u mean by out of range?
there could be some extra resistance in the temp sender wire cause the gauge to read incorrectly high resistance on the dash earth wire or some nut from strahfeild has installed the stereo incorrectly causing a voltage spike or overloaded a circuit
It's perfectly normal.
yeah mine goes half way when idle and only first notch when driving. So I guess thats normal.
the code in the ECUs memcal program. in other words software.
the other thing you can do if you're worried is wire up a switch a wire spliced into the earth for the thermo fan relay which normally just goes to the computer. this way you can switch the fan on whenever you like... theres a thread about this in the how to section i'll try and find it...
'Tis normal. Mine does that. Typically it will run tad under the second notch (first major one). It will reach up to halfway, fan comes on, and it goes down. All normal.
