    Exclamation Temperature when idle

    hey guys,

when my car is idle the temp goes upto half way. just was wondering if there is a coolant temp sensor that might need to be changed to turn the engine fan on earlier??

ECM controls the fan via the ect which should turn on at 104 degrees and off at 96 degrees , when was the last time you flushed your cooling system and what mix of coolant you using ??

there could be some extra resistance in the temp sender wire cause the gauge to read incorrectly high resistance on the dash earth wire or some nut from strahfeild has installed the stereo incorrectly causing a voltage spike or overloaded a circuit

    As ^^ said.

That's perfectly normal for a standard setup to go to.

Mine comes on slighty above the normal operating temperature, but that's thanks to an adjustment I got made by Greenfoam when he did my tune.

    Yup..

Though personally, I didnt want the fans cutting in at 104c, so now they're set to cut in at something like 95c.

Where is the sensor and how did you change the cut in temp?

the other thing you can do if you're worried is wire up a switch a wire spliced into the earth for the thermo fan relay which normally just goes to the computer. this way you can switch the fan on whenever you like... theres a thread about this in the how to section i'll try and find it...

'Tis normal. Mine does that. Typically it will run tad under the second notch (first major one). It will reach up to halfway, fan comes on, and it goes down. All normal.

As I said, that's the proper operating range for a standard tuned car.
