hey all.
when i first start my car it blow black smoke
what could this b?
Im having a Problem with my 1992 VP
But, it wont start on first fire up anymore. It winds and winds.. If I dont use the Throttle a little, it will stall .
BUT WHEN IT DOES!! A LOT of smoke black comes out, After 3-4 secs of that crap.. She runs fine, not a worry! not 2 good on Idle. If I turn the car off and start it back up within 5-10min it fires up one the 1st go. But any longer. It won't.

Check your Pod/Pannel filter... Might need a good clean!
But, most likely.. It's your Spark Plugs, pull one out..If there all black n' dirty...there shot
That's how I fixed mine when It did it
Easy fix!
it's a fair bit of smoke. n it dnt run right it ant missin just drop's revs
fuel pressure reg, located on the left hand side of the fuel rail. My VN stoped kicking over first go and blew smoke till i chanegd it.
sorry mate only new 2 the vp's do u got a pic of the fuel pressure reg
facing the engine look to the left side fuel rail and you will see a small tin thing bolted on with two hoses coming out, one going under the car the other to the throttle body, take it off and swap for a new one or one from the wreckers and it will be sweet.
ok thanks will a vn one fit?
how do u no if its a series 1 or 2? by the radiator hose? s1 go's down along the motor n s2 comes out the front?
where do i buy a fuel pressure reg from n how much?
****You could pick one up from an Auto-parts store (supercheap/autobarn/repco/bursons/etc).
VP seriesI and seriesII? Hmm, new to me.
OP, yes a VN seriesI engine has the coolant pipe that runs down the drivers side along the top of the headers. (thermostat housing at the rear of the motor)
SeriesII has the thermostat housing at the front of the motor
VN/VP/VR seriesII fuel regs will ALL be the same.
While your changing the reg, I'd give it a decent service too. (plugs, leads, fuel/oil and air filters, and clean or replace the TPS and IAC sensors while your at it)
Cheers.
I went down to the wreckers and pulled them out of VN and VP's till i found one that had a long tube at the bottom like Dumster's photo and it runs great, stuff spending $150 on that little tin thing, mine was free because i just stuck it in my pocket.
