where should the coolant reservoir to radiator cap hose sit?

hi guys,

i recently replaced the radiator in my vn but i moved the hoses about and now i cant remember how the hose connecting the coolant reservoir to the radiator (next to cap) sits. at the moment, ive got it going down underneath my shroud fan and up, like a semi-circle loop, but should it be kept level, or does it really matter???

it goes along the top in front of the radiator underneath the black plastic strip

would it matter that i have it looping under, i will try and fix that tomorrow then...
