    Question VR dash in VN/VP?

Will a VR dash with the tacho work in a VN/VP? ie. just plug 'n' play. I am talking about V6 btw

    Cheers

It won't work, the wiring between the VN/P and VR/S is completely different.

you can put a complete VR/VS dash in to a VN/VP ive done it before, but you have to change the whole dash loom including the loom that runs though the firewall down the drivers side of the bay and across the front (head light loom)

The center vents dont line up but the dash will bolt in and then your clocks will work ;-)

lol I meant the cluster, I seen converted VR L2 gauges in VN/VP L1 casing/PCBs on ebay just before. whats involved in putting just the tacho and temp/fuel from a VR dash to VN dash. They are mighty easy to take apart.
Just electrical side of things need modding I guess?

is the V8 tacho inside the cluster use the same signal rate as the V6 tacho? I am thinking about buying a VR V8 cluster and using the gauges out of it and putting them in my VP cluster.
I noted the cluster has copper pads for the L2 gauges and should be able to drill it out and use it. the tracks lead to exactly where I speculated so in theory it should work fine.

    Anyone can confirm this?

The V8 tacho will not read correctly.

I make the VP/VR converted clusters and it takes about half an hour to swap over the gauges. I poke a hole through the PCB on the back of the cluster and clean out the hole so the gauge bolts are easy to fit. Then scrape off the paint from the copper contact area. Fit gauges and away you go. I also swap the speedo fascia over (well the whole speedo head) and fix the voltage regulator at the same time I have it apart.

I have 6 made up already.

Correct. Just dont kill the PCB when making the holes - take your time and watch for the "oops ripped the PCB" bit.

Hmm - V8 is no good to ya.

Price will range from $20 to $40 for a L2 VR gauge set. I sell them on Ebay for $49 to $69 already done

yeah I will use my own spedo/od
my fuel gauge has been pissing me off any way as its mechanically sticky. solder joint have already been done so that is not the problem.
will be nice to have some reliable gauges.

Last i can remember these gauges where good. If you dont need the speedo i might take that out cause its got my orig kays

With the sticky gauge, sometimes it sticks on the little pin below the needle when it gets hot in the car. Just scrap the paint that gets sticky off the pin where they touch
