can anyone hlp me pls, just bought a vn ss,got it rwcn reg today, but when i found this site it mentioned vin numbers, and i think ive been ripped off,ok my vin number is 6h8vnk19hll413607 ,the car has a 5 litre in it with ss badges but im not sure if its a mockup ,it has no mod plate on it ,can anyone help me and tell me what i should do,thanks steve
call up holden and someone should be able to help you out. they'll be able to tell you if your vin number is for a genuine ss or not. what makes you think its a mock up?
cause i did a vin check and it said a v6 white com,but mines a got a 5litre and its had a new paint job its black now,no mod plates on car but wouldnt rta picked me up on havn a 5 litre with no modifications
ps anyone no holdens number
i guess you mean HJL not HLL? Vin Numbers
sounds like a mockup. but have you got a photo of the car and how much did you pay? if you got it cheap then i wouldn't say 'ripped off' ss' are only execs anyway![]()
no its definatly hll
oh yeah my mistake the middle L just means it's a 1990 model. everything else i said still stands. from factory it was either a v6 exec or s
i paid 5 grand for it but it has a new paint job, custom black with pearl n gold flakes,5 litre with all the ss trimmings
just got my rego papers from motor transport today, rego details, year of manufactor 1990,make holden, model commodore, badge ss,cyl/rotors,8,so it is a genuine vn ss,thanks for all your replys
take note of the bolded h: 6h8vnk19hll413607. h means v6. u means v8. unless holden made a mistake out of the factory, it is not a genuine ss. of course the rego papers are going to say it's a v8 because when you change the motor you get the rego updated. the badge is irrelevant because the vin number doesn't differentiate between SS and exec v8 so it can be classified as either.
