Gday Guys,

Got the old girl RWC checked today and a few things got knocked just wanna see if im getting a good deal or not.

Car too low $0 (talked him out of it because it was only the exhaust)
Rear Control Arms $135 fitted
Replace Steering rack $495


Do those prices seem fair to you?

upper or lower control arms? 50 buks from ebay for upper ones and pretty easy to fit.
As for power steering you can get reco outright for 250-300 or exchange about 180-250 plus fitting it your self its not hard but u will need an alignment after which is about 50 buks.

yeh bro control arms are pretty easy not a bad price i suppose for him to get them and fit them, steering rack is over priced if u ask me, way over priced..

yer i got a reco steering rack 4 bout 200 with the change over and got a mate to fit it 4 2 boxes of beer. n wheel alignment for 40 bucks

i got s steering rack brand new and fitted by jax for a bit over 400 i'm pretty sure(you get what you pay for though, the bastards left my exhaust loose, refitted the old and worn tie rod ends, didn't centre the column properly and pretty sure they didn't bother with the alignment they charged me 50 bucks for... stay away from Jax at castle hill). why did he knock you back for it though? if it was allegedly leaking make sure its not leaking from the hoses or the pump and just running onto the rack because a lot of places will tell you straight up its the rack coz its the most expensive part to replace. If he knocked you back for too much play in it he's probably telling you the truth, thats more of a tire shop trick than a mechanics trick to sell you a new rack...

Checked it straight after I got home it's leaking from the power head pump is brand new only 2 weeks old no splits in the boots

I'm actually a mechanic just don't have the time or energy to work 6 10 hour days and work on the car and the bloke I took the car to knew I had no intention of getting the work done through him so he had no reason to overquote

steering is squeeking and vibrating so I'm pretty sure it's rooted.
