Default Every 1 Who Has This Problem Try This!

Ok Vn Commdores And Tail Lights Spells Trouble!

    Here Was My Problem

Head Light/ tail lights On, Fine - Foot On Brake Whilst Head Lights/ tail lights are on Are On Right Side goes Out... + bottom tail lights never worked.

I rang up auto elec's and got qoates and they wanted to charge upwards of $100 to fix this

they told me all sorts of stuff from earth problems to power source problems to wiring!

Now heres how i fixed that plus more with $10! no shit!

Went to the wreckers and got a new tail light harness from a wrecked vn, got home pluged it in to see if it all works (the blinker was the only thing that didnt work)

    So..

i cut the brake 1 of and cut the 1 of that was on my car and wired the 1 from the wreckers up! tail light/ brake light problem solved..
now the bottom lights never worked for me when i put my tail lights on

    so..

i got some sand paper and cleaned the conection on my driver side and it works fine now..
as for the left side it was F#$ked!!! so i cut another harness off the 1 i got from the wreckers and wired it up in place of the shit 1 and now all of my lights in the rear end work with out a problem!

I suggest You Try This Before Paying through The Neck For Something That Maybe Cheap To Fix!

Also Im Sorry If My Jargon Is Not Correct im Not Very Mechenical Minded!

    In My Words

Harness = the cable with all the plugs for the light globes on it!

Well the bottom tail light on the right was rusted to the shit house! i had to break it all away to get the bulb out.. and as for the 1 on the left i just sanded it and it worked fine, but the tail light on the drivers side i dunno why it didnt work coz it was rusty and the wiring was fine but it didnt wanna work untill i wired up the new 1..

All I can say is - "When I was a Virgin DIY repair my own car owner, I got the same warm and fuzzy feelings too!" - when I did stuff myself. Nearly 30 years later, the feeling never stops because I just keep on doing it myself!

Now i have given it a few more seconds of thought, I'll admit I can't wash a car or apply tyre black for sh!t like a real "car enthusiast" can, but I have no problems replacing a clutch or piston rings! I'll just leave it to the real enthusiasts to wipe the grease of the panels when I'm finished!

I had similar problems with my VP. After replacing the harnesses (because a few of them were completely rusted through), my bro and I put greese in each socket to coat the metal and prevent it from rusting. I haven't had any problems with the rears for over 10 years now and no rust has returned. I think at the time I paid $22 for the replacement harnesses. Always check with Holden first how much replacement parts are, sometimes they are just as cheap to buy the new genuine part.
