vp hall effect sensor

a mate has been having trouble with a vp we belive its the hall effect sensor causing it to cut out at times then not start we have removed the dissy cap and got the sir clip off but the plate above the sensor does not want to come off so we can replace sensor any ideas as how to get it off

sounds like the ignition modules the problem there causing it to cut out while driving and or not start at times.
