Coolent Bottle Hose

Heys guys i just went out and done a Check on my oil levels and etc!

When i checked My coolent i noticed that 1 of the 2 hoses that comes off the lid for that bottle is not connected to anything! Is this supposed to be like that?? is it a breather or is it supposed to be connected to something?? Also im very low on coolent so now i have to go to the shop and get some coz im all out haha..

Oh i should mention the hose that is connected runs round the front of the engine bay and goes to where the radiator is cant see where it is conected tho.

that is the overflow hose. if you overfill the overflow bottle and the level rises coolant will be pushed out of that hose onto the ground.
