Hi everyone, ive had my VN for a while now and the problem with my central locking is begging to bug me, so today i pulled the trim off the driver side door and discover the switch that detects the turning of the lock had fallen off the pins that hold it in place and that also there was a disconnected plug to it as well as a nother plug that i cant identify, anyways ive plugged the switch back in and now the doors unlock when the key is turned but only the drivers door locks... but i can hear the other doors trying to, and one last thing, is it supposed to have an remote as standard? because i dont have one, but there is a immobilizer under the dash ( an aftermarket one ) but i dont have a remote for that either
Thanks
Greg
The last picture (of the unknown plug) is for the factory motor for the central locking. It plugs in at the bottom of the unit, (black motor in gold metal housing for door lock)
Do you have a aftermarket motor in there? or a factory one?? If its an aftermarket one, the wiring for it will be spliced into the plug, therefore thats why its not plugged in.
The middle photo is the trigger for locking and unlocking the door.
If the other locks are making noise but not locking then the rods inside the door may need adjusting. I have an after market central locking system on my VN and every now and then the adjuster moves a little and the door locks fail to work as they should. I remove the door trims and adjust/lube the slides and locks.

yep, thanks guys, ive found out im in need or a Drivers Door Actuator... its not there but all the other doors have them, so ive got it too the stage now where the switch in the middle photo is mounted and when unlocked the other doors unlock but do not lock again, so im thinking the other door must get their signal from the look actuator because it will unlock all the doors and lock them again (except drivers) if i do it from the passengers side. Are the actuators the same in the VS? and also is the drivers on differant from the others? because it has more wires leading to it and i tried a rear passenger one but it didn't work?
Thanks
In regards to the actuators same as a VS, it depends what type of actuator. VNs had two types; early ones where screwed into the door shell, later ones are part of the door latch assembly.
I have got a feeling the later VN types are the same as VS...... maybe another member can confirm![]()
Mines a April 89 and it has the type that screw to the door
sweet, thanks a lot mate, any idea if it is supposed to be remote central locking, and if so is there anyway of recovering the code so i can get a new remote?
If you have the model number and manufacturer info from the immobiliser you'll probably be able to source a new remote that works with that unit (got one from Cyclops for my old alarm/central locking before I upgraded the system)
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
mines the factory central locking unit, i dont think it has an immobilizer
The factory central locking on Berlinas didn't have a remote, it was key operated. The remote only came on Calais with the factory immobiliser.
ah ok then, thanks a lot for all your help![]()
