Belt Tensioner

Hey guys i done a quick search and read the topics that have already been posted on this and it was no help, so im ganna post this 1.

My Belt Tensioner Is Jumping And Rattling pretty bad and its pretty noisy when your in the car!
I changed the pully that was on there from when i bought the car which was a big chrome 1 very heavy duty by the looks of it and replaced it with a black 1 that is for a Vn, but the rattling and jumping didnt stop. Now It Is Getting Worse is this a bad thing or am i worried about nothing?

Does it have plenty of spring tension on it? Have you checked the bearings in the water pump and alternator?

you dont just change the pulley you change the whole tensioner.
if thats what you did disregard what i just wrote lol

When the pulley got noisy on my VN I just got a new pulley wheel. The one on it was metal with a removable bearing whereas the genuine replacement was plastic with a non replacable bearing. I was able to repack the bearing on the original one and it's fine, still sitting in my cupboard, car's gone though.

sounds like the op had a prob with the tensioner (jumping around) not the bearing in the pulley
id check the harmonic balancer too
