    Default electric aerial problem

Hi, im just trying to work out the problem with my electric aerial it hasnt worked since I got the car, I cant hear any noises when I press the up or down buttons, the aerial is stuck half way down & you cant pull it up or down manually so im guessing the mast isnt broken. Is it common for the motor to fail? btw im still running stock stereo.

Is it a factory style (ei: with the buttons above the headlight switch) or an aftermarket one?

I had a faulty one on my VN and it was the internal guide for the mast rope that holds it against the bigger gear. It had worn out and the gears had come out of mesh. I just turned it around and all was good for years after that. Your gonna have to pull it out and take it apart and see what is wrong with it.
Do you know how to get it out? There's a nut and bolt you get at from just infront of the passenger side kick panel trim and you have to unplug the 2 wires and the co axial cable to the radio.

While you have it out make sure the motor works. From memory, put the red on 12 volt power source and earth the green wire and the aerial will go out. Reverse these wires will make the aerial retract.
