when i start my vn it sits on about 1500 rpm for like 10-20 seconds the slowly drops down but sounds like its still idoling to high. iv just changed my stater motor and its doing this, it was idoling high before but not this high. have i done sumtin wrong and can it b changed, if so how do i fix the problem
have you tried adjusting your excelorator cable my old vr did the same thing still reved high at first then slowly went down i just adjusted the cable to get it to rev lower on idle give it a shot
Idle Air Control valve maybe?
My VN was doing that for awhile. I gave it a full clean out (spark plugs, clean TB, upgraded leads etc). And now you cant even feel it idle. runs very smooth and idles at around 700. 900 when its cold :P.
I know I am bumping a 2-3 year old thread but this same exact problem is happening to me and I can't seem to figure it out. I've taken out the Throttlebody and completely cleaned it (cleared the IAC Valve of all carbon ect as well) and it's still not working!
I read the error codes and it returned 24 (Vehicle Speed Sensor) but that doesn't really make me think it would be directly related.
Sometimes if I kick it in the guts (Slam the accelerator at idol to 1k off red) and turn it off, it starts but instead of 1,500rpm it's 2,000.
Does anyone have a little bit more info on what this could be? I'm not all that interested in taking it back to Holden as I'm a little bit broke![]()
In mine if you are driving along and slip it into neutral (auto tranny), the idle stays at about 1300 or so till the car comes to a stop. Speed sensor ~might~ be telling the computer to keep the idle speed up like when you are tootling around corners off-throttle but loading up the p/s pump to minimize the chance of it stalling. So if the sensor is bad it might be affecting things. Just a though.
