    steering rack then.
its hard to give you proper advice without much info, all you say is that it "goes mental" and "its all over the show".

too much toe out will make it track like a bitch and if its low and got wide tyres on it its even worse.

what wheels/tyres are you running? i had the same problem in my old vn and i was running VT SS'. pedders said they were the wrong offset (not sure if this is true or not), and also because they had wide tyres it put a lot more strain on the suspension. so i put on a set of stockies and the steering was a million times better after that. worth a shot of you're running big wheels!

yea when i turning full lock it feels like the front wheels are slipping bit they just wanna go there own way when going about 80ks goes left to right pretty badly hit bumps and throws ya on the other side of the road pretty quickly and steering loose and gotta fight against the wheel fair bit but everything seems firm under neath got under it and nothing seems loose when turning the wheel running 17ns on it but no better with stockies

Soft or worn Z bar bushes can make them track all over the road. I had this problems with one of my VNs and when I put new nolathane bushes in, it steered like a sensible car.

Another symptom of worn Z bar bushes is excessive front tyre wear

Problem is you really don't have any idea what you're dealing with until you at least know what's going on with the alignment though - you could have something bent that's getting it way out of whack, who knows...

hey mate, sounds like you and me have the exact same problem. i have got my car checked out and pedders reckon my front lower control arm bushes are all scragged and my strut mount tops are cracked. so maybe just check out your strut tops (you can see them when you open up your bonnet) and just see if they look all worn and cracked. just a thought, good luck mate.
