I've been looking a bit lately at the boot of the VN, and now think that the single skin panel is too easy for my toolbox to slide through and onto the road.
Has anyone done anything as a preventative measure? Or even had anything hit the inside hard enough to dent/cut the panel?
We used to have some dings in the family VH from sharp objects hitting the panels from inside the boot, don't think anything could actually get out
Is there anything worth doing to stop anything denting the sides? I though about welding just some flat bar across just above the floor to stop stuff sliding (free job because of tools and metal at work)
Been watching VN's cart stuff around for 20+ years and am still yet to see anything end up on the road thru a rear 1/4. If you are that worried then tie your toolbox down or slow down around corners or both.

This is the reason people buy utes! If you want to carry mining machinery around, I suggest you get one.
If a Commodore ute is not good enough, then buy a hilux!
I used to fang my VP around with all sorts of stuff in the back, nothing ever got through. I put a few small (and I mean SMALL) dents in the panel from the inside with a crowbar once, but that was from actively using it![]()

All done, half hour at work with the mig and i chucked two rails of 15mm round bar along about 10cm above the floor, high enough to stop work tools and crap sliding
