Have Found A Set Of Platinum Spark Plugs On Ebay And They Are $50, Seems a bit steep to me as i seen spark plugs the other day for around $5 each, so for a set these platinum 1's are $20 more expensive
here is what the item description sais
YOU WILL GET LONGER SPARK PLUG LIFE (100,000KMS),BETTER FUEL ECONOMY AND SMOOTHER DRIVING.
Is this a true statment or hogwash?
Sorry if this is adumb question but i dnt know much about this sort of thing!
Cheers

100,000km out of plugs? I wouldn't leave them in for that long, maybe 100,000km till they die but they would surely be clogged up before that in a old VN motor.
I just use cheap ones and replace them every time I do the oil and filters. Nothing wrong with the old NGK or BOSCH plugs for a few bucks each.
Just saw some BOSCH NGK and original GM spark plugs on Ebay from $5-10 per set of 6.
More spark is always good but most of us aren't driving race cars, just keep them clean and replace once or twice a year depending on K's done and motor condition.
Awseme thanks man i wont bother with those other 1's! ill just get the NGK ones i seen at supercheap!

You will probably find genuine parts are cheaper than Super Cheap depending on the dealership. Last lot of Spark plugs I got for my VY which are the same cost me about $14 from my local Holden dealership, they were sold to me loose from a bulk package not in a blister pack or 6.
I agree just stick tot he basic parts and change them when recommended in the owners manual which in a VN is around 20,000 to 25,000km from memory. I know I used to take them out of mine after that and they were still fine but I replaced them anyway.
I brought these same bosch platinum plugs after fitting a new memcal and had the engine cough and fart when laying the boot in. Fitted these and stopped it and runs better with em. The old NGK plugs were less than 1 year old and didn't look too bad when taken out so i'm happy with these.
To the Op, the statement is true.
Most newer cars run these plugs and they do go the distance.
Usualy about $23 each but well worth the cost IMO and yeah it will run smoother and get better ecconomy.
They have a very fine tipped electrode which throw a very nice spark compared the the standard what are fat tipped and round off and loose performance.
If you change plugs pretty often Platinums pay for themself pretty fast and especialy if fuel ecconomy is better.
Bosch or NGK, i use NGK but mine a LS1 but either way they are worth it.
Cool I might add them to the list of stuff to get![]()
