Hey Guys, time for some help....ok here goes..
Bassically yesterday my V6 went from Quiet to making a nice and loud knocking sound..In diagnosing the problem i took the serpentine belt off and noise gone.....checked idler pulley-all good..water pump-good. Ac-good...Power steering seems ok...Does this mean the balancer is stuffed..

how is the balancer, any bits missing or any play?
What about the alternator? Spin it and see if theres any noises/grinding?
I's say it could the timming chain tensioner has worn out and dropped off the end of the spring and is now safely in the bottom of your sump.
Or the balancer - is all the rubber cracked around it?
The balancer is more of a clicky type spound and the tensioner is an alloy hollow sound.

Alternator seems fine...Balancer has a crack ill take a pic...After looking at the pic i took i think i know the problem......how obvious it is in daylight...
Yep better outcome than the tensioner in the sump tho. Much easier to get to and replace.![]()

thats f'ed
If you look at it behind you will see rubbing hanging out. Anytime there's a knock at idle that stops under load on a V6 VN-VR that's what it is
Had a look behind and no rubber hanging out...but its probably wedged in there somewhere, thanks for the help people..
