it must be pushing the limit then. even so, why would you need more power? surely thats gonna tip the power/weight ratio so that you cant drive it

correct power to weight is fine if u have elec windows and air con (aircon reduces power and elec windows add weight) or something like that anyhow, if u go and add any power to that thing and take it over, um.....165kw i think it will be illegal. would be better spending ur money on cosmetics for her rather than power. after a few fines u will learn that it is better to respect the laws, afterall they are there for a reason.......and it can be expensive

the muffler sounds a lot cheaper i will look into that thanx stocky
i will be doing alot of cosmetic work to it and it will be coming before n e power increases and as far as respecting the law i do but i am sure u no what its like to want the best of the best for your pride and joy. police around my area arent too bad aslong as your not a hoon so i think with the right management of extra power the fines should keep away, do u have n e ideas for me dark prince on modifications????

mmm i have a 5.0 vn calais and i just put a standard redback muffler on it but my cats have bin bashed out, a little no no but hey hu can tell. this will give it a nice deep note and only cost like $165. how far r u goin with the cosmetics? if u r goin as far as a full kit go to the spoiler shop website and check out the vr clubby kit to suit vn, it comes up a treat, i'd try to steer away from any later model kit as they look odd. Take the covers off the sides of the injection, the one off the front and the rocker covers and get them electro plated (chromed) it will bring the engine bay up a treat o and as for the exhaust again i would be puting a nice set of hm headers on it, as this is what is on mine and it sounds a treat.

at the moment due to money constraints just going with the basic re spray wich my pa can do because he is a sparay painter and panel beater, re tint on the windows to darkest legal, i will check out that sight because i am undecided on whether to change the body kit or not
Do u think i need a new pipe then say a 2.5' will that give me deeper not or leave it as standard and just go with new set of extractors and a new muffler to acheeive the sound i am after?

In my opinion guttin the cat is useless unless ure running a
    very high hp car..
    I got stock cat/extractors and a 2 1\2" FINNEX exhaust
had for about 1month now and still love revving mi car just to hear the sweet sound. . got that nice growl at medium rpm with that penetrating screem once i hit 4krpm +

In my opinion, the way you're breaking the law is more detrimental than him having over 165kw.

low down torque? mate ur driving a V8 SS commodore! why do u need more torque!

ur 18! and so am i... mate not only can we not afford to piss away money into our cars, but a P plater driving a V8 commodore will get enough looks from the cops. U want to give them more reason to pull you over by adding exhaust system (noise) and low down torque?

The fact is at 18 we can't afford that shit. Only 4 or 6 points on ur license, and unless ur working full-time u can't afford to keep paying for ur car. As it is, your standard V8 will use 15L / 100km. U'd also wanna put in Vortex or Optimax to get it running right. And fuel about to go up to $1.30 for Reg. unleaded? Man the last thing you need is more power!

And as for a bodykit? The SS already looks BOSS as it is. The better your car looks, the better it looks to theives. Also remember its a VN. You may as well have a STEAL ME!!!!! sign on the front.

Save your money, and put it towards something useful like an immobiliser, cuz god knows your gunna need it

I agree with ur comments mate 100%, running a 5litre ain't cheap for someone not only at 18-20 but any one. It's a bugger but if ya want a v8 you pay the price. Owner of a vn ss 1991 i agree there easy targets 2 get stolen i would invest in good full comp insurance, top of the range alarm and drive it untill ya got the money, tho a cat back wont cost 2 much, but is it really worth it? All depends really whether ya got the money @ the time.
    Cheers.

2.5in is fine for both upper and lower rpm ranges and will give u adequate torque in both

Hers the deal mate, do well @ school and leave the ss in the shed, catch a bus 2 school save ya pennys on that and maybe drive the vn ss once twice a week , ya will appreciate the car. Maybe conisder that untill ya can afford 2 run it as a daily driver. Then ya should have some money behind you to do the cold air intake, exhausts, extractors, rims, stereo, sports wheel and so on....
    Cheers.
