Delcowizid and were discussing this the other night. Cant remember what conclusion we reached. I am running S1 vn heads on my VR, and have for 2 or 3 thousand ks now.

Here is a pic of my S1VN heads (the clean ones) next to my VR heads. Note the two extra holes either side of the middle cylinder on the vn heads. These are for coolant, and join up with the channel next to them a few cms in. The VR also uses a different crankcase breather system to the VN, Il upload a pic of how that works a bit later on
The VR heads are the dirty ones on top

Sorry I didn't know that, but I remember finding about 5 or 6 old threads on the subject a few months ago.

Anyway, I think the main difference with what was stated above, was the inlet manifold water jackets and there was some drilling to be done! SO perhaps it may be easier to use the S1 manifold as well, but there are other external things to modify as well, like the sensor, alternator wiring and water hoses.

No difference, Delcowizid reckons VR is a better casting though.

Im pretty sure the stock valves are the same size on both, my VN heads have oversized valves in them (cant remember what size exactly)

    Also I used VR gaskets

    Nah only on the VR.

They are just roller bearings in the base of the rocker, they arent that exciting.
