Hey all,
This is the last post in my VH thread, just thought I'd put it up in here, (fairly relevant section VP motor and trans going into VH) for some more people to see it/give me their opinions etc...

Its sort of all over the place, but if any of you with VN/VP's have done some work recently, that needed to be done/or was easy to do while it was all apart, your opinions would be greatly appreciated!!

Will also be doing a full service with the leads, plugs, and water pump.

The dash (im assuming its original, the cars a BT1, and the dash looks like its all genuine) has 22x,xxxkms.

Does any body know if you can repair the power steering racks 'fixed line' that goes from one side of the rack to the other? (on the VP rack) The metal line that is about 30cm's long, it doesn't look like it screws on, or has a fitting, its just in there? I'm not sure if you can just pull it out or if its stuffed..? Kinda damaged it when the motor and tranny was coming out :

Does anybody know/have opinions on what needs to be done on the buick motors...
It has oil leaking, (from what I can see) from every possible gasket/seal on the bloody thing, so plans are so far to buy a complete gasket kit, and do all of the gaskets, other than head gaskets (although, will have them in the kit, so might just get some bolts and do them too?)
But is there anything I should do when pulling it all apart?

I want to put an ecotec oil pressure relief spring in the oil pump while its off,
A new thermostat,
Probably cam and crank seals on the front of the motor, under the timing case
Maybe rear main seal,
Front and rear gearbox seals,
Pan gasket and gearbox service/filter/adjust bands or whatever is in there? lol

Is there any thing else that we should look at? timing chain? etc...
It seemed to be running alright when we had it going, but only really drove it for 5 mins before we stripped it (when it was in the VP)

And is it hard to change to the ecotec coils? Is it worth doing? one of the terminals on the VP ones is rusted, not sure if a bit of wet and dry would clean it up enough?
