vn front top strut bearings

hey guys i hav a knocking noise from my right hand front strut and im not sure if its the bearing or not how can you tell if the bearing is broken or is about 2 break. i also think it mite b the top nut on the strut but i didnt put it on tight enough coz of my imact gun isnt powerfull enough so i got my mechanic to tighten it and now i think its coming loose how would that b posible :S

any help will b handy cheers guys

hey mate, if you just look under the bonnet you'll see the bearing plate above where the suspension sits and if there are all cracks through it then that bearing plate is pretty much stuffed (you'll probably have quite bad handling too with the car wondering all around the road). i just had my strut top bearing plates replaced a few weeks ago cos they were all cracked, but there was never any noise coming from them when they were broken, just shocking handling, so just from my experience i wouldnt think its the strut bearing plate making noise (but thats just my experience), but i cant explain that nut coming loose either sorry mate , but hopefully someone else can help a bit better ........ good luck bud
