You need spring compressors, a massive vice, and a rattle gun. Without those, don't even contemplate itYou'll hear people talk about all sorts of other shortcuts you can take, but half the time they won't work.

I didnt use a rattle gun, you just need to stand on the strut in just the right place
Whats the massive vice for?

massive vice??? huhhh! take out the strut get a rattle gun undo the top nut and run haha. no the old spring will be worn and not to much froce to it {or just cut it in there with a grinder=easy} and if u have spring compressor it will make it easyer if not there like 20 buks from supa cheap or somthing. the new lower spring will be alot shorter than standed but stiffer so if u can push it down far enough to start the top nut then ur rite, then just do it up with the rattle gun.make sure tho when ur puting the strut back in that the 3 bolt ends go back in the same way or when they do wheely on it, it will be more than just way out. not to bad i was a wheel aliner for 5 years thats how we did in, when in a hurry anyways.
