door handles and locks

hey all i wont 2 upgrade my vn's exterior door handles/locks 2 the metel ones out of vs. iv found a good set but it wont come with a key do i need a key? and then have 2 diff keys 4 my car. eg ignition and a separate key 4 the doors. or can i just change the lock part out of my plastic ones and put them into the metal ones so that i have the same keys but the door handle is the metal ones

any advise will b helpfull cheers guys

yehh lock barrels are interchangable between handles mate.. so you wont hav to worry bout diff keys etc. the metals ones painted look a hell of a lot better too mate, iv done the same thing myself
