Hi There,
When I start my VP V6 ute from cold, the temp gauge always maxes out before it falls to normal operating temperature. So, starts off cold, goes as far as it can go (beyond hot) and then falls to where it would normally be (about 1/4 of the way to hot).
Any ideas? I am about replace the thermostat, but could it just be a false reading from the probe?
Cheers,
Nick.
Id defo put my money on the Thermostat.
Have you done a good bleed on the System yet?
-
Undo the 'Nipple' bolt on the Thermostat Housing.. Not all the way. But enuff to let air come out..
Have the A/C blowing HOT.
Once no more air is coming out... then tightin the Nipple.. and turn the A/C to what ever you prefer.. and away you go
And have the car running while doing all this
ALSO! When you engine is Cold.. Squeeze the Hoses.. They should be Tight N' Firm.. if there squishy and soft.. then they need replacing
And the basic Q.. When was the last time you Flushed the cooling system?
Thanks for that!
Last night I replaced the thermostat, flushed the radiator, refilled & bled - all good now. Temperature comes up to about 1/3 and stays there.
Cheers for the advice.
