respraying my vn

hey, just got my vn not to long ago. s pack 5 spd man, lsd, vp hsv rims.. picked it up for $850 damaged at the front abit.. broken windsheild n little here and there.. now all sweet working rego
.
just wondering.. gona be respraying the vn.. black metallic and with a dark red in it.. but only getting the outside done .. not the inside.. reakcon it'll be a big mistake or ?

shud i put in the extra n get the inside dun to??

gona be doin it wit my cuz n only hav enough paint atm for the outside.

My partner and i are prepping my VN to re paint aswell, and we have discussed this for ages LOL......if you are cahnging colour, i'd recommend taking the engine out, taking the door trims out, taking all the glass out and doing it all properly.

If it's going to stay the colour it is now, then you can get away with not painting the others.

If you don't paint the others, then everytime you open the door, or bonnet, or boot, you will tell straight away and it will look like crap, as it will stand out like balls on a girl dog.

If you're going to change the colour, then take your time and do it all. : )

i went a full colour change to blue from yellow and i had all the car inside and out re sprayed and im glad i got all the inside done aswell. then i changed the front to a vr caprice and i sprayed the front and rear bar myself after and turned out better than i expected i just did alot of research and took my time in doing it and saved heaos at thew same time and feel better for giving it a go myself/

hrmm.. yeh maby il get the outside dun wit that metallic black.. n jst buy sum cheaper shit n pull inside out n the boot n do that myself
the engin bay is to much of a hassal.. plus i never open it for people anyways not much dun.. expect soon to get extractors.. my friend can get me a deal on some buh how much would it cost to get them installed? ??

just mask up on the inside of the gaurds dude, and boot the same take of your boot rubbing and hard mask on the inside of the panel, as far as doors jams and underbody i can only say one thing, do it once, do it rite and youll love the end result!

hey guys got it resprayed this morning wit my cuz.. i was able to get my hands on sum more paint .. so il be doing the inside of the car shortly..
took some pics ...

we did three coats of paint n 2 coats of clear..

because its dun in a dodgy room lol. my cuz said after its dyered n all .. will do touch ups and cut an polish to remove some of the dust (only little bit) which has settled down on it.

Looks good. Done in 2 pak? Is your cuz a professional spray painter? did a good job on the masking and wearing full gear. Definitely get the inner doors and jams done, I resprayed a car from gold to grey without the door jams and even that looks crap when you open the doors, gonna fix it up but much easier when you have it all prepped first time.

hey yeh i think it was 2 pack.. yeh my cuz has been painting cars for awhile .. n he now paints trucks.. (dis isnt his workshop here its my merchinc place.. otherwise would of been better in a spray booth)

got some pics of it now .. all painted out n about
(cant wash for 2 weeks after that get the touch ups done.. and a cut and polish to get rid of some of the rust (which settled on it ).. chnage the exhust tip to twins

and put a red strip around it where the oringal strips go.. and of coruse put it on 15x7 interceptors lol

yeh... once i started sanding it .. i was shocked to see how ruff the body was.. marks everywhere .. paint peeling off the edges n shit.. now looks all str8 and clean

Wow turned out great, i am going to paint my car black with a pearl soon, how much all up for paint, did you use primer aswell or just sand the red back and spray it black.
