Morning all,
My mate has recently put a 5ltr V8 in his VN, hes running a big pod filter so its got a loud induction noise which i love, hes got a 3" cat back with no res which sounds tops. But what i really love is when he changes down a gear you can hear abit of backfire which makes the car sound nice and tough.
Alot of my friends hate that sound and wish to never hear it again. Me personaly i like it.
Just wondering why its making that sound.
Can you do it in a auto.
Is it bad for your engine.
It is very bad for your car. How could you possibly like that??? It doesn't make it sound tough at all, it makes it sound sick!

My car (the v8) has a small leak in the exhaust and dose it, but only after the manual conversion did it really do it. A auto wont shift down by its self and doing it manualy in a stock box isent that great for it.

Yeah, I have a little Nissan Pintara running a stage 3 chip, advanced timing, big exhaust and air intake and it snap, crackles and pops between gears and even more on down shifts and slowing down. Sounds awesome, but gets tiring when you just want to cruise.
EDIT: Yeah, it's unburnt fuel, and it does it even more so on LPG as more fuel tends to get through without being burnt. I don't know if autos can do it, probably can, but you would have to be slowing down from high revs, and the car needs to be modified with at least an exhaust, and probably advanced timing.
why dont u guys just unplug your o2 sensors , stupid thread , if all u want to do is drive around making your car pop and backfire u dont deserve cars, if u want a nice exhaust note keep your engine healthy and buy a GOOD exhaust not one that is fully sick because its a factory system with removed mufflers

Chuck a 2.5" exhaust on, and just rev the car (manual) when shifting down. My mates VN Calais if he doesnt rev it when going from 3rd to 2nd it grinds changing gears. But it does sound tuff!
With great cars, comes great drivers.
