Hi everyone,
I知 looking at installing AU twin thermos into my standard VN Executive 5L automatic which has very few electrics, but I知 still wondering if my standard alternator will be able to cope. Just to quickly summarise my electrics:
Geez, my car is pretty boring hey
- Have aircon but never use it, plus the little A/C fan at the front of the radiator has been removed
- No aftermarket gauges etc.
- No power windows/mirrors etc.
- No stereo equipment
- Standard headlights etc.
Also, if/when I get the fans installed I知 going to have the two fans come on at different times (say a 10 second delay) due to the greatest current draw occurring at startup of the fans.
And if it makes any difference my battery is 440 CCA
Should I be OK?
it will be fine.
i got twin AU thermo fans in my 5l and its fine..had them in for about 7 months and no misshaps with the alternator

They'll work fine in a V6 as well.

yippee, no need to fork out for a bigger alternator...
Not sure about the power increase, I'd imagine it'd be negligible once the fans are up to speed, though when they're off you'd expect a bit more responsiveness from the engine.
I'm replacing the clutch fan due to the incredible roar it produces, makes the car sound like a truck...yuck
And also to free up a bit more room for the over the radiator cold air intake.
The good thing about the clutch fan is they're damn reliable, I mean even if the clutch buggers up the fan will still provide cooling.
