Default anyone used valvoline engine armour oil? is it any good?

hey guys, just got the new super cheap auto catalogue today and this valvoline engine armour oil is on special so i thought i may grab it as my car is due for an oil change. ive always used royal purple oil but havnt noticed any better performance or fuel economy (like they reckon its supposed to do) so im just gonna get a cheap oil this time. just wondering if anyone has used this particular oil before and did they have any problems with it? and also would it be ok for a car thats done 290,000 kms? or should i get a different oil considering the mileage on my car? also if it matters i was looking at getting the 15w-40 option. cheers

If you like sludge and ticking lifter's go for it !

I used Valvoline crap for a couple of changes, Filled motor with sludge and gave me lifter tick, Soon went straight back to penrite

I also do a flush every service aswell. So i realy dont know where all the sludge came from with the valvoline. Perhaps it was the oil its self.

Thats just been my experience, I also recently serviced a camry thats run on nothing but valvoline its entire life, Its internals are jet black, and after the flushes and dumps, It was still comeing out black, Put a nice semi synthetic in it, Drove it for 1000k's and the oil was again jet black.

    Nasty stuff it seems.

Valvoline is always on special, that's because it's made to attract penny counters who like flash looking labels.
It's not terrible oil, but I would recommend changing every 5000km if you are going to use it.
Castrol Edge is a great Oil, as is Penrite, Nulon is OK but full of additives that become stagnant after time....

It's your choice, Good Luck with whatever you go with.

OK I think you talking about there premium oil, I grabbed there regular stuff today for $4.99 for 4 litres. It was running out the door, they sold a whole pallet just today. The regular stuff is still turbo rated, so it should be alright to use in me vn?

yeah i run the 20w50 cant remember the exact bottle its in my wagon which isnt here its great stuff ide run it at that price .the turbo vb had it in on the skidpan at 14psi and 6000+ rpm and it still has full oil pressure even after huge boosting burnouts while over heated the gulf western has passed our testing
