Default No brakelights (VN S Pack)

Hi guys, im sick of my car, its just problem after problem with it! 2 Days ago i was driving with a friend and we pulled up out the front of his house, to find my rear left tyre deflating slowly. So i took the car to my aunties around the corner, jacked it up and switched it. (Turned out to be a screw in the tyre). Anyway. After that my interior lights (in the roof) didnt work. Which didnt phase me. Anyway i didnt drive it again until tonight cause i had no fuel. But i had to pump the tyres up anyway, so off i went. Im driving and i relise my back brake light on the parcel shelf isnt working. So i went to my nans and asked her to look at the back and tell me if the lights work when i put my foot on the brake. They didnt. The lights work normally, just dont dont get bright when i brake, and i dont need anyone hitting the ass end of the car over this shit. Could it be an electrical problem?

Brake switch under the dash could be stuffed. A good way to check is to bridge the two wire from the switch with something like a short piece of wire and see if the lights work.

Thanks, where abouts would i be able to find the switch? Near all the fuses, or somewhere else?

its a white roundish thing up behind the brake pedal, as the pedal goes down it pushes against it. you might have to get down into the footwell and look up. inlaws vn used to do them every few weeks due to the 4 lights in the tail lights plus the light in the window all coming on and puting to much power through the switch and burning it out

If i need a new switch, would disconnecting the light in the window reduce the power going to the switch? Or would that then lead to a rwc issue?

Yeah disconnecting the rear parcel brake light would use less power, but yer it would also be unroadworthy and cops might pick you up on it. But really you shouldnt have to disconnect it, there is definately another problem in the system somewhere, best off trying to find it and fix it and leave disconnecting parcel light until your very last option when you've run out of ideas. Have you checked your brakelight fuse under your steering wheel at all?

It was actually the fuse. Had blown. F'ing owner before me played around with it so much it has electrical problems everywhere! I could kill him! So i switched it with the washer fuse (Since i had to cut the wire as it was a live wire dangling over the cyclinders). So i will replace it once i get new washers + washer motor.

Whats funny is 10:59pm was about the same time i figured out it was the fuse.
