need help whats wrong with my auto gearbox???

hey guys need help took my 89 vn v6 motor and trans out to fix oil leaks and flex plate i have put it back in took it for a drive and it wont change properly now if you drive normal its doesnt change to second or top but if you put your foot down it will rev hard then bang into second gear could i have put the square plug on the gearbox in wrong the plug sits on the left hand side near the shifter selector??

Your kickdown cable probably isnt adjusted properly.
