Can I take a auto from a VS Ecotec and fit it to my VN Buick with out to many problems? I have the Ecotec box and I can see at the rear of the box, there is a plug for the ECU to control it? but from what I can figure out the auto in a Buick set up is controlled via a cable from the top of the inlet manifold?
Can I unbolt the rear of each box and swap them over or will this make no change.
Reason for this swap is the gearbox is in mint condition and I got it for free and my current box only has 1st, 2nd and reverse.
Cheers.
hey mate, i might be wrong, but i believe you need to run the ecu out of a vs for the tranny to work (or it might work but i dont think it would kickdown properly because the vs tranny is electronic). but hopefully someone with more knowledge on this can help a bit better. good luck with it
It might be easier to do an engine swap (upgrade to ecotec) along with the box than get the electronic box working with the buick 3.8
