my left hand tail light has just stopped working changed the globe worked for a bit then after fiddling around stopped working completely now the other globes work just not that one due to leakeage
in the tail lights went to holden today to get a new wiring harness for it the bloke said they dont make them anymore for the vp calais they have exec ones but they wont fit. i tried wreckers ebay everything know one have em. so im not sure what to do does anyone know if its possible to get that wire thats not working on the harness replaced so it works or any other options like new set of tailights to suit a wiring harness im not fussed if there not calais ones ?
I fixed this issue on my VN (Calais looms) by drilling through the black globe holder and soldering a wire directly onto the top of the metal. (I removed the connector inside the globe holder and ran a wire right through the holder) The wires have a bad connection inside the black globe holder.
I fixed both my VN's this way in a few hours and have all rear tail and stop lights working very bright now.
it was mainly the black earth wires that were giving me grief - and the right indicator.

ohh awesome the thing is im not very hands on like yourself ill ask a mate who is thanks mate appreciated
I went the wreckers today as the connections had corroded and would not work . When I got there every vn and vp sedan had those little brakelight harnesses already gone but I was lucky enough to to find one that the boot was locked shut and nobody was interested in trying to open it all except me that is. So I was smart enough to grab both so I had a spare. Now if you want I could send you my old one that only has one rusted socket. Then you might be able to make one out of the two then.
let me know.
It's best to fix them IMHO as it will come back in a few years anyway...crappy connection of wire to metal inside plastic cover corrodes...look with a torch and then drill and solder as above.
Or try googling "Electric Life" Melbourne. They were in Sydney Rd Coburg last time I checked, they probly still do them.

electric life melbourne would they be able to replace that wire with a better connection to the socket? is that what you mean or they might have new wiring harnnesses for my vp calais.?
I think I may get some buggered up looms from the wreckers and do the "fix" on them. See how the come up.

sok just though you could get wire conections and mix and match the good plugs.
Here is what the offending wire connector looks like

I got my harness from Coventry's here in W.A.
Replaced both sides and got given another new spare from a friend.
This was a couple of years ago so they may be all gone. Just like the wheel spats for the Calais![]()
Electric life may have reco'd units available. Or non genuine but good ones.
