VP 5.0LITRE diff gears what do i need

hi guys im trying to find diff gears for my vp live axle v8 but im not sure what type i know that the standard ones are 3.08s but i dont know what to use for more take off and what kinda price im looking at and where to get them from ?????

well basicly the higher ratio gearing you have the more better its gonna accelarate and get through the rev range. so for getting off the line fast you would wanna go a 3.45 or 3.7 or so. you can go higher but then your cars gonna be revving a fair bit higher when cruising on the highway and you will also start losing top speed as you go higher ratio too (not that you go that fast unless you take it to the track). as an example ive heard of a guy with a vn v8 that revved around 1800 revs or so with the standard diff gears but then he changed to 3.9 and it was like 2400 or something like that. not good if you care about your fuel bill, but yer it really depends on what your using the car for, street or race days...... if you only use it as a daily driver than i would recommend a 3.45 diff with lsd is always a good upgrade, or 3.7 at the absolute MAXIMUM. anyway mate good luck

Getting my diff built at the moment. Been going to the same diff guy for years with numerous cars. I use my VN for towing and the occasional bit of fun. He recommeded 3.45 LSD... so that's what i'm getting
