Smile Vn cluster plastic glass swap

The clear dial cover on my lvl 2 cluster has always been foggy and feral looking, not to mention it has a big crack running through it. Would a plastic clear cover from a VR/VS cover fit? or would it just be easier to go back to the wrecks and get one from a VN?
    thanks

Also while it's out i might try to fix the sticky guages while i've also got my friends fie point solering iron.

A L2 lens from a VR will fit if you swap the warning lamp cards over.

Thanks for your reply, ive only got the cover here, separated it from the cluster at the wreckers ages ago and has been living in a box.
So I'm guessing that it won't be a straight foreward swap over i.e. the clips wont fit?
i just dont want to take the cluster out to find that the lens doenst fit thats all. Thanks

Lens frame is identical from VN to S1 VS. S2 VS has the same shape and will fit too - just the lens is clip on not glued as in the VN to S1 VS.

Take the 3 screws out of the bottom of the lens and remove the smokey cover. The warning lamp defussers will fall out. Replace these from your Vn lens and you wil have a new lens cover.

Sweet, I'll have a shot at this tomorrow then.

While your online, where exactly is the 3 pin voltage regulator? I heard that its above the fuel/temp guages, i heard its above the tacho. all the guages are sticky and slow to respond, so a fix is hopefully in line.

A set of VR/VS gauges will work heaps better (smoother) than the VN units if the voltage regulator is soldered up (no cracked solder joints)

I tried using a vs cluster in my vn series 2 and it didn't work. Is there a way to fix the plastic with like plastic light repair kit or would that not work.

What part did not work? If you change the warning lamp diffusers it should fit up no worries. I have heaps of lenses from VR and VS and use them to replace busted up VN units.

I've got several lens screens - but it's almost impossible to get them out of the frame without busting the thing.

The warning lamp cards are along the bottom of the lens behind the dark strip.

The lens will come up mint with a little polish - fine grade and a little elbow grease

Oh ok because when i tried the vs cluster it wouldnt even show the tacho working and when i indicated they wouldn't work but the hazards did and when the car was tuned off the right hand blinker logo was lit.

The cluster is not the same at all - but the lens will fit the VN cluster if you change the warning lamp cards. You can also fit the VS gauges to your VN cluster case. I've made plenty of Vn/VS gauge conversion this year.

You just need to use the VN PCB (backing on the cluster) and the VN voltage regulator and it will work no problem
