A Greenfoam tune will most definately help. VS super6 cold air intake, make sure your air filter is clean. Exhaust system too. and extractors.

I got the tune and the CAI and am too poor to afford a fancy air filter and exhuast system, but even with those 2 things i can feel a bit more grunt lower down in the rev range. good luck with the project

I would suggest to start with the basics first if not already done so:

Replace engine oil filter and engine oil.
Replace transmission filter, gasket and fluid.
Run injector cleaner through gas tank or professionally clean.
Replace spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor and coil.
    Radiator Flush and fluid replacement.
Clean throttle body and ensure it is opening 100%
Check throttle lines for slack or stretching.
    Clean or replace air filter.
Check and replace brake pads if necessary.
    Check exhaust for leaks.
Check all hoses and belts for splits and leaks.

Hopefully some of that info is half usefull to you.
I am sure i have forgotten a few and the list is in no particular order! Most of the above you should be able to do yourself from a lot of the DIY's on this site. Made a huge difference in my VR after i did the above checklist! Good Luck!
