Default wrong key in key head kill electrics????

okay people so in trying to figure out why all of a sudden my vp s2 is throwing problems at left right and centre of late when it was such a good reliable car ive started to wonder iff the key is causing the issues

when the plastic key head deteriated away on the vp keyhead we replaced it with the casing off the VT key as a replacement.. the VP has just a standard key.. opens all four doors via turning locks on doors but the VT was remote central locking..

we have had things like the car just running rough as guts, struggling at high an low revs, lights blow out, car loose all engine power at random speeds and random driving conditions. its only intermitten though???

    any thoughts would be appreciated

A VP will also have remote central locking as standard. Not sure what you mean by using the VT case; just the case or the VT remote module?

Possibly a bad earth at the car battery terminals.

Possibly failed or dying alternator voltage regulator.

    Possibly a BCM fault.

I'd be looking at the engine electrics more so than the key.

The random "running rough" would possibly be the DFI or coils on the way out. See if you can swap it with a known good unit for a day or sao.

ended up being nothing to do with key, the fan belt was cracked and alternator was on way out , apparently this can cause the electrics to run funny aswell as the knocking noise i had in engine bay which was the idle pully and fan belt ...
