Default T5 conversion into VP Calais.

I own the Calais and not long back i pulled the 5 speed and motor out of a VP exec and am considering the swap over. I've heard that it can be a pain in the arse with sensors and what not but are there anyone on here that has done this in the IRS calais and did they run cable or hydraulic clutch? The motor the box is on was using water and leaking coolant but not too many kays on it so was thinking about new gaskets and a clean up woul be enough. Whats your opinions on the matter?

Cable clutch - very straight forward conversion. Should take you slightly over a day.

The sensor problem is only VR onwards. VN/P dont have this problem, and despite what some uninformed people will tell you, you can run a manual gearbox and retain the auto computer.

Both of mine are using cable clutch. Not really worth converting to hydraulic unless your planning high hp/torque.

Do you still have the car that the gearbox came out of? Better to have all the parts on hand, because its hard to find certain parts at wreckers, because they wont usually part them out separately.

The sensor problem - are you talking about the speed sensor for VR+?

I was referring to the engine light coming on on the dash if you don't use a manual computer in a VR. No such problems for VN/P. Speed sensor should be a simple change i thought....

That was the thing missing from the kit i bought, when i did mine. Not sure if VC will fit, i just used a VN V6 one (was lucky the wrecker had it left over)
