Default VN is not getting fuel

G'day im new here, i have read a few things on here before but only just joined asw i have just purchased a VN commodore.

The VN wont start but is getting fuel past the fuel filter although when we disconnected the fuel line from the fuel rail no petrol came out when it was turned over, it would just spit occasionally.

I'm pretty keen to get the car started but am stumped as to where the fuel has gone. we have tried disconnecting the fuel line from between the filter and the fuel rail and slightly blowing compressed air through the line from the tank end to the motor end.

All that we got from this was nothing coming out of the rail end but instead i could hear the air coming back into the tank through a return line, what can be diverting the petrol back into the tank?

if anyone could help i would really appreciate it, thanks in advance.

P.S i have searched for this info on the forum but cannot find any.

sounds like you are unconnecting the wrong line or something, i have no idea what youve done or are doing. simple fact is, if you have petrol in the tank, can hear the pump running after you turn ignition on, petrol will come out of the correct hose if disconnected, if not somethings stuffed.

get a new bit of fuel line and hook it from the filter to the fuel rail, sounds to me like u either have a blocked line somewhere, or have pulled off the wrong line

when i took the line out of the rail and turned it over a slight amount of petrol would spit out every now and then but thats about it. The car has been sitting un driven for 2 years so something may have gone wrong in the lines, maybe mould or something? im not sure.
    thanks anyways

air compressor at the filter connection, disconnect the engine input line and wind the PSI up, if nothing coes out at 150PSI+ then your fuel pump will stand no chance

yeah its got fuel to the rail now but now it's got no spark, i can understand that the car may have stopped from no spark and the fuel may have settled and gone wrong in the line from sitting for 2 years. so now one problems fixed it is onto the other, is there something i should search for methods i can check things such as my coil packs, CAS and also perhaps resetting the computer? which im not sure if i can do, or if it will help.
    thanks

geeez, it could be soo many things. check fuses, etc.. loose wires, so many things to check. this is where a tech-1 could come in handy.

considering the cars been sitting there 2 years i would go all out and change all the leads, spark plugs, dfi module and coil packs, and if none of that worked i would probably try a second hand ecu (no more than 20 bucks at the wreckers), but thats just me. good luck with it mate

tahnsk for the input, we have jsut checked that there is power to the DFI and ther is 11.70 volts, same as at the battery. all fuses and solenoids are fine. must be something simple, jsut not too sure what
