hey guys. with oxygen sensors do they just suddenly die or do they slowly die? the reason i ask is because over the past month or so my fuel economy has been getting worse and worse and worse and its pissing me off. i havnt been driving any differently than before (and im not a grandma but im not a lead foot either). in the past 6 months i have replaced, dfi module, all coil packs and spark leads. i replaced the spark plugs about 8 months ago, and i have just installed a new air filter 2 weeks ago. so my best guess is that its the o2 sensor thats giving me shit fuel economy. so yer could an oxygen sensor slowly die give my car decreasing fuel efficiency or do they just all of a sudden die with no warning? i guess what im really trying to ask is if its worth buying a new one? cheers
Absolutely yes. They will deteriorate over time but still work within the PCM's tolerance, but not at their peak effiency. Buy a new one. Have you done an error code check?
thanks heaps mate, just what i wanted to hear. nah i havnt done an error check yet, didint even think of doing one, ill do one 2moro when i have some time. thanks again ay
