quick question, got a vn s pak manual..
lets say my engine goes or gives up on me..
are their many vn engines manual out their.? n whats their price tag ? around $400-500?
my mate says the way i drive im better of sellin it while it goes n getting sumthing newer cuz if the engine goes i'll hav a hard time finding a replacement for it.
and im guessing u cant put a auto engine in wit out changing alot of things ??
sounds lik a dumb post lol buh its got meaning to it.
sounds like ya mate has no idea what hes talkin about. them engines are a dime a dozen.
VN S1 manual engines are rare, its the S2 onwards that are all the same and a dime a dozen.
Do you have a S1 or S2?

I have a VN S pack 5spd manual S1 myself. My mecahnic says they are the strongest toughest motors you can get. you can put them thru just about anything and the suckers will keep running, and i've proven that on a few occassions lol.
Mine is on straight gas and i love it. Fuel consumption is minimal and it only costs me around the $25 mark to fill up at the moment, and that lasts me almost 2 weeks of running around, including a 2 hour trip i do once a fortnight aswell.
Those motors i can vouch for being one of the best v6s made.........IMO.

Condition would be running but that it last time it was in a car
If you really couldnt find a S1 engine i would just change over the cranks, the engines will be out of the car anyway.

yeh mines on petrol n gas 2 .. and my foot is allways planted lol, $35-$40 fills her up, n gets around 450-470ks outta a gas tank
my mecahnic says my head gasket iz leaking.. buh not to bad. hrmm so not to good atm
buh like u said mischa if it does goes n cant get a S1 il jst fit the S2 in..
(also, my cuz said their is sumthing for under $10 u can buy at autobarn or suppercheap or somthing lik that to stop your head gasket from leaking.. not to sure,, il ask him again n let yous know, maby yous hav herd of it befor.
yeah its called chemi weld... thats only a short term fix... would be a good idea to have the head gaskets replaced. cause when they go... its a bitch to clean up. trust me.. after blowing 2 sets of head baskets on my old VS turbo burnout car... it was a mess. could inves in some copper head gaskets and that will last u for a very very long time.
oh yeh i see, is it a big job to change em? n how much for a new one and a copper one ?..
also might be dumb question buh how do u blow em, from burn outs or driving it hard or ... ? lik wah effects it n makes it wear out? im allways engine braking does dat count lol?
well to change head gaskets u have to take the intake man off the exhaust man off and also the heads. if u have some mechanical skill this should be an ok task.
copper head gaskets cost around $100 a pair i think. ACL sell them... Automotive Components Limited i think thats the site.
they blow mainly due to over heating. u over heat the engine the heads warp.
the reason bazza kept on blowing them is to higher boost for the compression. and engine braking only wears on the drive train unless ur compression locking all the time lol
ohkk sweet thanks alot.. hrm duno wah my merchinc was talkin about saying it was expensive... 1 grand :S unles he was speaking of sumthing esl to do wit the head gasket.
well thats only the cost for the head gaskets. u have all the other gaskets like the intake manifold gaskets and all that. plus the labour of pulling the engine down and putting it back togther as well. takes some time. so thats why it would cost that for him to do it. if u do it ya self. will save alot of money.
well it is recommended. some of the gaskets can break while ur removing them. and most of them are o ring type that after many years of service become hard and no longer seal properly. if i was doing it. i would use all new gaskets and i bet ur mechanic will also have the heads crack tested as well and maybe even do the valve guides and seats. so thats probably why its more if he doesn't charge u much.
No probs mananytime
