Bolts on to the TB on some VP's, part of the fule line going to the right hand side fo the fuel rail. What is it and what does it do?![]()
That would be your fuel pressure regulator.
When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all,,,,,,,,,

Except that it doesn't appear to have provision for a vacuum hose connection and it's the wrong shape. I think that it is a fuel line pulsation dampener - fitted as a factory rework to VN and perhaps early VP to reduce an NVH problem but it's been a while since I've looked at one.
Worth putting it into my VN?
I think the later models had the pulsator/dampener fitted on the pump assembly inside the fuel tank.
yep, its a fuel line damper to eliminate fuel line hammer. and no it doesnt go in the tank, it sits on the fuel input to the fuel rail in the engine bay, i think it sits on the inlet manifold near the throttle body or on the throttle body, cant remember from memory.
As I said, its only the LATER MODELS that have it in the tank. Not the one pictured.Otherwise I would have said THAT one goes in the tank.
yeah it bolts to the Throttle cable bracket that bolts to the TB.
This is a ute pump assembly, but the pulsator/dampener is on sedans and utes and wagons. It is marked in the pic below.

oh is that what that bloody thing is, i always thought it was just a push over connector, i never put any more thought to it whatsoever. cool.
So what shout the car be like with one as opposed to without?
Unless you are paying particular attention I doubt that you will notice any difference, especially with the extra rattles and noise associated with 20 years of wear and tear. You might notice occasionally some additional noise from the firewall area as the fuel lines vibrate against the body.
