hey guys, have been getting a bad clunking sound the past few months from the rear of the car and its just getting worse and worse. i already knew that my rear UPPER control arm bushes were stuffed but have now found that also the rear LOWER control arm bushes are completely f**ked too (theres hardly any of the bushes left, they've all fallen apart) and also the rear sway bar bushes on the ends of the sway bar are stuffed too. i dont have much money so i dont really wanna spend money if i dont have to. my question is am i able to just leave all these problems and handle the clunking sound, or if i leave them too long will parts start really breaking if i dont get it fixed asap. if this is the case what order would you's replace the bushes in? just cos i doubt im gonna be able to save enough money to do it all at once, first year apprentice wages are really that badthanks for any answers
I was in the same spot.I couldnt pay for them all at once.I fitted a couple at a time and found that the new bushed flogged straight out because of the movement from the other worn bushes .I then replaced them all at once with nolothane type bushes and its now a different car to drive, heaps tighter, just like it should be.

if i was u. id go down to ya local pedders and get them done on the eazy pay plan things. cause u need to do them all at once. and if u dont do it soon. metal rubbing on metal it not good for the bolts holding the arms on.
u leave it to long and they will wear out and break.. next thing ur diff with fall out. thats an extreme case scenario i know but can happen. i would hate to be driving ur car. must feel very loose and have a lot of axel tramp on take off.
then next time you go around a round about and hit a bump you could skid off into a stobie pole with stuffed bushes. another extreme case scenario.
might not happen over night... but it will happen :P
seriously. take the car off the road untill you get it all fixed up.......before you kill yourself or someone else mate.![]()

Shit my VN is doing the exct same thing. Is it expensive to fix? can you do it yourself?
thanks heaps everyone for all the replies. i know to make this a priority now. and yer as sik_dose said, is it hard to do yourself with only basic hand tools? or is it another one of those things that i should take it to a suspension shop to get done?
you can buy upper and lower arms with new bushes off ebay. the only bushes that need to be fitted by a mechanic are the lower ones that are in the diff housing
