it could have an airlock in the line thats stopping the fuel getting the the engine. loosen one of the fuel holes and see if its pumping.

Ive found that you need quite a bit of fuel in the tank to get the pump to prime if the pump was completely dry like it would be if you drained the tank below the sender unit entry hole height ...I put in 10 litres after changing to a brand new pump and the car wouldnt start.. you could hear the pump running ...remembered all the stories about the fuel cooling the pump and the fact you could burn it out if I just kept winding it over so I stopped and went to the servo and got some more fuel......chucked in another 15 litres and it started straight away and ran fine..I figured the swirl pot didnt get fuel when I put the initial 10 litres in and the little bit more over flowed the edge of the swirl pot and filled it up, primed the pump and off she went...havent had any dramas since and have run the tank to the low fuel alarm and it still picked the fuel up ok.
