Waterpump Housing gasket leak or Corrosion

Hi guys, went to the mechanic because I noticed a few trails of coolent coming out behind the waterpump and he said if its a gasket that it'll be fine but if it's corrosion on the engine block then it's good night nurse, has anyone ever had that before, what can you do about it?

pull it apart and see, only way to know. also, engine block wont corrode as its cast iron. only the timing cover will corrode.
the worst scenario is not that bad, take it apart and have a look.
