Hello i have a jackaroo with a vn 3.8 litre conversion in it and it started running like shit 6 months ago it cuts out and runns bad when im just cruzing along not when its under load or giving it abit of revs i have put new plugs and leads, fuel pump and filter all injectors dfi modjle and coils i have taken it to a few mecanics but no luck so far any help would be much appreciated thanks
oxygen sensor....maybe??? alot of mechanics don't pick up on this. I could be anything though.
i had this problem, turn out it was the connection on the Coilpack, but you may have a different problem, is the engine light on at all, check the codes, it will be some sort of sensor, IAC or CAS even O2 sensor like said above just have to test them all and eliminate them.
~ VN POWER ~ Click the scales
Maybe try cleaning and testing all the sensors connected to your throttle body ( iac, tps and map sensor ) and clean out your throttle body while your at it. Good luck mate
I agree with above comments.
But I think the issue would probably be in the crank angle sensor, maybe a fin on the harmonic balancer has been bent.
Also check MAP sensor and tube running up to throttle body.
If that hose(tube) has come off or broken the MAP will read atmospere pressure not manifold vacume and run very rich.
An oxygen sensor that is not working wont usually cause the engine to cut out or stall. It will probably just run a bit crook.Id be replacing the CAS (Crank Angle Sensor) as this can cause all different problems like the engine cutting out, or running badly etc. Also check the ECU mounting ,check that its earthed properly to the vehicle body. Also check all the engine wiring and connectors and the main wiring harness connectors.Especially check the connectors on the ECU and the DFI module connector.Look for white or green corrosion on the pins on the connectors.Clean any pins that dont look clean and shiny. Also undo and re tighten, and if nessesary clean (wire brush)any earth points on the engine and body.

Yeah o2 won't cause your issues.
Pull the harmonic balancer(HB) off, and pull the CAS off and see if the HB fins have damaged the CAS
Cheers lads ill have my mate put a new crank angle sensor and harmonic bal in it for me i have pluged it in to a computer and nothing came up should i Just get him to put them in?
Ive seen a few stuffed CAS's and most of them didnt even set an error code. Just caused the engine to stop and or run crook.Try to buy a genuine Holden CAS if you can.A bit dearer, but Ive seen cheap brand new CAS's (like some available on ebay) play up and cause problems.
i just replaced ecu and the stop starting issue is gone. last ecu i think was fried by battery as when i got car i found the battery terminal was not tight, just wobbles around and sparks. i fixed the terminal. got heaps of stall issues but the ecu is from ebay, cost me $10 and car is purring nice.
