    Default vp clutch problem

hey guys, just changed the clutch in my vp v6 yesterday and something doesnt feel right. my old clutch was a Exedy Heavy Duty and it was on its last legs so i decided i would change it before i was stranded in the middle of nowhere. i got a RPM heavy duty clutch this time around and also bought a new clutch cable. i fitted everything up but coming time to adjust the cable, ive wound the adjuster almost all the way out and the pedal doesnt sit where it used to. it infact sits lower than what it used to, but, it engages and disengages fine and selects gears fine too. the only other thing is that the clutch pedal vibrates a bit too but stops as soon as i rest my foot on the pedal. the spring on the clutch pedal is there and it fine before anyone asks. what could this be?

    thanx in advance

    George

You probably have a worn bearing retainer...the tube surface the throw out bearing runs along as you depress the clutch....I have the same problem...... because there is a worn area just at takeup point the throwout bearing moves around a bit at this critical point and this movement is transmitted along the cable to the pedal....I have got a reconditioned bearing retainer from mal wood ($110) and also a steel throwout bearing carrier for my t5 but I havent fitted it yet....pain in the arse to pull it out again especially when I have only just put it all back together after replacing the clutch.

Yes Mine was really bad before I changed the clutch...you could feel resistance as you pushed the clutch in and out and when I had a look at the throwout bearing the spline surface had worn off one side...I smoothed out the wear on the bearing retainer surface and was told mine wasnt bad so I put it back in...bum steer...took a little while but the vibration returned
